Teething Tales

Remember when our little Roo was this small?  Here he is just minutes old....

But now...our wee man has been busy growing some teeth.  His bottom two teeth busted through the gums about two weeks ago. Spence was pretty uncomfortable for a few days, but he handled it fairly well.  He liked chewing on a cloth covered ice cube to ease the pain.  We are hoping the next round of teeth doesn't happen during our plane ride to or from Aus.  We won't be making any friends if it does!

One lovely day, Spence went out with me to practice using my camera.  He was an excellent assistant.   He also got his first chance to touch and explore grass and dirt.  It was pretty cute to watch his face fill with concentration and curiosity while he ran his hands along the ground.  I had to stop him from eating the dirt a few times.  The boy wants to eat everything.

We went for our first swim at a recreation centre pool in Barrie.  We only got one photo in before the lifeguard told us that taking photos wasn't allowed.  In the photo, Spence is observing the people in the big pool next to our little pool.  That is the same look Brett gives me all the time. I was so excited to take Spence swimming because he loves the bathtub so much.  Usually during bath time he happily squeals and kicks and swings his arms about, so I imagined that the pool would be so exciting for him.  Well....he didn't react at all.  He calmly sat in our arms and observed the other people.  No squeals, giggles or flailing about.  Nothing.  Oh well, perhaps he's just getting used to it?

The BEST way to wake up!

New teeth!

Week 20 was the week of blowing raspberries and making rude noises.

Ready for a swim!

Our new couch!

Let's get this sticker off...

Clever boy!

Greenhouses, Grins, and a lot of Drool

We are officially into the drool season over here.  Drool drool drool.  Gosh that boy is always dripping.  Good thing his good looks distract everyone from the waterfall running down his front.  He is chewing on his hands and anything else he can find.  Poor wee guy is pretty uncomfortable sometimes.

Taking a photo is way more challenging now that he wants to examine everything.

For Mother's Day, Spencer gave me a card he signed himself and a great photography book.

Spence has started to caterpillar himself across surfaces.  It's his new form of transportation.

Weeks 18, 19 and 20 zoomed by so fast.  It is very scary.  He is growing so quickly.

This photo cracks me up.  When Spence is very excited he makes a crazy face and squeals.  This is the face:

We baked some vegan zucchini muffins.  Spence helped for a little while.  Then he decided he would rather play in his jolly jumper.  He voiced this decision very loudly.

We went to the greenhouse with Daddy.  Spencer helped to pick out some flowers.  He was very gentle with them....much to my surprise.  If only he'd be so gentle with my hair.

Weeks 16 and 17

Spencer seems to have taken over this blog :)   Remember when we used to write about Korea, Australia, or the wild beast called a chipmunk?  Ha!  Now our world revolves around our cute wee boy.  We did however manage to sneak out on a real date!  We went to see The Full Monty, a play put on by our local community theatre starring a friend of ours.  Grandma and Grandpa babysat while we enjoyed a few hours spit-up free!  Woot woot!

During week 16, Spencer began to use his exersaucer.  He sometimes gets a bit frustrated that the toys don't come off.  He also got the cutest bear hat from his friend Melissa.  When I take him for a walk in that hat we always attract a crowd of kids who want to tell him he's cute.  I think it's giving him a big ego. When we pair it with the sunglasses he's just soooooo adorable.

Spencer also started using his Jolly Jumper more often during week 17.   It took a little getting used to, but eventually he got the hang of it.  It makes me laugh so hard I cry.  It is absolutely one of the funniest things I've seen.  Snoopy came over to visit him while he was in the Jolly Jumper.  Spencer is starting to notice animals now.  This was the first time he actually reached out to pet a dog.  Snoopy reached out right back :)

With the nicer weather, Spencer helped his Daddy to mow the lawn.  Brett loves to take Spencer out to garden or mow the lawn.   Spencer likes his bjorn now so it opens up a whole new bunch of activities we can do with him.  Spencer also started to use the regular seat on his stroller!  Gosh!  He's growing so fast!
